11th Work : Woodworking - How to make a cutting board (feat.walnut) 🔪

 

This is the 11th work.

This time, I made a cutting board using only wood.

The board is a walnut board.

Finished result

It takes a long period of time to apply oil and dry, so the working period is quite long.

At first, there was a knot on the board, so I tried to use it for other purposes.

However, I needed a cutting board, so I made it in a hurry.

Wood with knots should be closed with resin or other ways.

I use it at home, and I just left the knot because it was annoying.

The knot must be closed.

Don't forget..

The more electric machines you have, the easier the cutting board work will be.

Round the corners with a trimmer...

and drill a hole....

and sand with a grinder...

and apply oil... 

and you're done. 😊😊😊

Okay. Let's start it now!

This work is to make a simple cutting board.

Please refer to this.

Round all sides with a trimmer.

If you don't have a trimmer, you'll need to use sandpaper to trim all sides at least a little.

I wanted to make a handle, but it seemed difficult.

So I just decided to make a hole in the top.

And I sanded it with a grinder.

I worked with 200 grit and 400 grit.

Some people do up to 800 grit, but I don't think there is a need to do that.

This is because the use of a cutting board causes immediate scratches..

Where it is difficult to sand with a grinder, sandpaper should be used.

When you're done sanding, you need to wipe off the dirt... and apply mineral oil.

People say it's okay to eat mineral oil.

Of course no one has ever done it. 😊

Apply it evenly and widely.

Then, wait an hour or so to wipe off the oil that has come back up.

This should be repeated 3-4 times.

And, you have to wait a day for it to dry completely.

Apply condition oil the next day.

I used butcher block oil as condition oil.

It is okay to use other oils, but you must use a cutting board oil.

Apply evenly and repeat 3-4 times.

Now it's all over.

Wait a few days (about 3-4 days) before using.

Now all you have to do is cook. 😊😊
